About the Marathon Plus AR

Marathon® Plus AR is IKO's traditional three-tab shingle — a clean, uniform roof line at the lowest cost per square. Algae-resistant granules protect against blue-green algae streaking, and the fiberglass mat carries a Class A fire rating with ASTM D3161 Class F and D7158 Class H wind classifications.

Why Marathon Plus AR Fits DFW Roofs

We only spec three-tab in DFW for rental turns, detached structures and matching repairs on an existing three-tab roof. On a hail-exposed primary residence the 60 mph wind warranty and thinner mat make it a poor value against an architectural shingle — most carriers now scope architectural anyway.

Carriers pay to replace like for like. If your existing roof is three-tab, the upgrade difference to architectural or Class 4 is typically the homeowner's cost — we show it as a clear line item.
